NYS Governor Paterson announced the creation of the Office of Taxpayer Accountability.  This new office will save taxpayers money by lowering costs, sharing services, eliminating duplication, improving service delivery, limiting unnecessary and unfunded mandates and attacking waste, fraud, and abuse.  You can read the full press release here.

From the Legal Blog Watch: A North Carolina judge decided to friend an attorney that was before him in a contested child custody matter.  After appearing in court one day, the lawyer decided to post a comment on his Facebook account regarding the case.  The judge responded. 

The judge was reprimanded by NC’s Judicial Standards Commission.  You can read more about this matter here.
