According to the Legal Blog Watch: “The legal publisher West said that it is releasing e-book editions of 29 of its most popular law books.  The releases include the book co-authored by Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia legal wordsmith Bryan Garner, Making Your Case: The Art of Persuading Judges.” The e-books can be downloaded and read on Amazon’s Kindle.

Federal Register now in XML

According to the Washington Post, the Federal Register will now be available in XML from Data.gov.  It will now be easier  “to transport [Federal Register]data from a Web site and store it, reorganize it or customize it elsewhere.”

PACER (Public Access to Court Electronic Records) has received a lot of press lately for not providing free public access to federal court docket information.  In response to these concerns, Courtport, LLC has launched its free federal court docket retrieval site.  You can read the press release here.

The migration is occurring on a collection-by-collection basis. Collections currently available on FDsys are: Compilation of Presidential Documents (1993 to Present); Congressional Bills (103rd Congress to Present); Congressional Documents (104th Congress to Present); Congressional Hearings (105th Congress to Present); Congressional Record (1994 to Present); Congressional Reports (104th Congress to Present); Federal Register (1994 to Present); Public and Private Laws (104th Congress to Present).”
